ONE HUNDRED NINTH LEGISLATURE
SECOND SESSION
LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION 300
Introduced by Spivey, 13.
WHEREAS, the Legislature finds that economic development is vitally
important to the well-being and financial sustainability of Nebraska and that
the Legislature and the state would benefit from a more coordinated policy
approach to economic development.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE ONE HUNDRED NINTH
LEGISLATURE OF NEBRASKA, SECOND SESSION:
1. The Nebraska Economic Development Task Force is created. The task force
shall monitor, analyze, and develop policy recommendations and priorities in
all aspects of economic development in Nebraska. The task force shall also
consider and recommend long-range strategic plans to improve economic
development conditions within the state.
2. The task force shall obtain input on issues pertaining to economic
development and workforce development from sources which include, but need not
be limited to, the Department of Economic Development and the Department of
Labor and use such input to develop proactive approaches to grow and invest in
the Nebraska economy.
3. The Nebraska Economic Development Task Force shall be composed of:
(a) Three members of the Legislature appointed by the Executive Board of
the Legislative Council;
(b) The chairperson of the Appropriations Committee of the Legislature or
such chairperson's designee;
(c) The chairperson of the Banking, Commerce and Insurance Committee of
the Legislature or such chairperson's designee;
(d) The chairperson of the Business and Labor Committee of the Legislature
or such chairperson's designee;

(e) The chairperson of the Revenue Committee of the Legislature or such
chairperson's designee;
(f) The chairperson of the Legislature's Planning Committee or such
chairperson's designee; and
(g) The chairperson of the Urban Affairs Committee of the Legislature or
such chairperson's designee.
4. The task force members shall elect a chairperson and vice-chairperson
from among the task force members. The task force shall meet on or before June
30, 2026, and shall meet not less than once every three months thereafter but
shall not be required to meet while the Legislature is in session.
5. Meetings shall be called by the chairperson of the task force. The task
force may ask other persons or entities to attend its meetings or present
information at such meetings. The task force shall submit a report to the
Legislature regarding the recommendations, priorities, and plans the task force
has identified on or before December 31, 2026.
