ONE HUNDRED NINTH LEGISLATURE
SECOND SESSION
LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION 313

Introduced by McKinney, 11; Rountree, 3; Spivey, 13.
WHEREAS, Daniel Goodwin Sr. was a longtime North Omaha businessman, civil
rights leader, and community advocate who passed away at the age of 93; and
WHEREAS, Goodwin was an advocate for equal rights and participated in the
March on Washington in 1963 where he stood alongside leaders of the Civil
Rights Movement; and
WHEREAS, Goodwin was the owner of Goodwin's Spencer Street Barbershop
which served not only as a business, but as a community institution for
mentorship, conversation, and civic engagement for generations; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature recognizes Goodwin's dedication to civil rights,
small business, and community and Goodwin's impact on North Omaha.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE ONE HUNDRED NINTH
LEGISLATURE OF NEBRASKA, SECOND SESSION:
1. That the Legislature expresses condolences to the family and friends of
Daniel Goodwin Sr.
2. That a copy of this resolution be sent to the family of Daniel Goodwin
Sr.
