ONE HUNDRED NINTH LEGISLATURE
SECOND SESSION
LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION 318

Introduced by Hughes, 24.
WHEREAS, One thousand seven hundred Nebraska citizens have been elected to
serve on local public school and Education Service Unit boards throughout the
state; and
WHEREAS, board members have a responsibility to lead towards a vision that
meets the current and future needs of Nebraska's students; and
WHEREAS, local boards of education are a uniquely American institution
that have made public schools both flexible and responsible to the needs of
local communities, our state, and our nation while keeping alive the American
ideal of representative government; and
WHEREAS, all Nebraskans should recognize and acknowledge the significant
contributions made by our locally elected, volunteer school board and Education
Service Unit members, who work to ensure the delivery of quality education to
Nebraska's children.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE ONE HUNDRED NINTH
LEGISLATURE OF NEBRASKA, SECOND SESSION:
1. That the Legislature recognizes January 25, 2026, through January 31,
2026, as School Board Member Week.
2. That the Legislature encourages all citizens to take note of such
observance.
