ONE HUNDRED NINTH LEGISLATURE
SECOND SESSION
LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION 324

Introduced by DeKay, 40.
WHEREAS, the 2025 Nebraska School Activities Association Play Production
Championships were held at the Johnny Carson Theatre in Norfolk, Nebraska, on
December 10 through December 12; and
WHEREAS, the Hartington-Newcastle High School one-act team performed Epic
Proportions winning the Class C-2 title and received high marks from all three
judges; and
WHEREAS, the Wausa High School one-act team performed their home-brewed
musical Breaking the Habit written by Sheila Housing, earned the Class D-1
title, and earned Wausa's fourth state championship in a row out of seventeen
state championship titles; and
WHEREAS, the St. Mary's of O'Neill one-act team performed And a Child
Shall Lead winning the Class D-2 title and earned two more awards: the Johnny
Carson School of Theatre and Film award to Anna Otte and the most outstanding
technical crew award naming Samantha Asche and Laura Otte as outstanding
techies; and
WHEREAS, all three school's outstanding achievements are made possible
through the support of teachers, administrators, parents, and the community;
and
WHEREAS, the Legislature recognizes the academic, athletic, and artistic
achievements of the youth of our state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE ONE HUNDRED NINTH
LEGISLATURE OF NEBRASKA, SECOND SESSION:
1. That the Legislature congratulates Hartington-Newcastle High School,
Wausa High School, and St. Mary's of O'Neill on earning the 2025 Nebraska
School Activities Association Play Production state championship titles.
