ONE HUNDRED NINTH LEGISLATURE
SECOND SESSION
LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION 337

Introduced by Spivey, 13; Cavanaugh, J., 9.
WHEREAS, Mama's Attic - African American History Center and Doll Museum is
one of only two brick-and-mortar Black doll museums in the country and the
first of its kind in Nebraska; and
WHEREAS, Mama's Attic is celebrating five years in operation of curated
themed exhibits that explore African American history and culture within the
broader context of American history and race relations; and
WHEREAS, Mama's Attic houses three centuries of Black dolls to show how
Black doll making parallels the state of race relations in America; and
WHEREAS, LaVon Stennis-Williams is the founder and director of Mama's
Attic - African American History Center and Doll Museum; and
WHEREAS, Mama's Attic presents carefully researched exhibits curated
around historical themes attracting thousands of visitors adding to the tourism
and vibrancy of Nebraska.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE ONE HUNDRED NINTH
LEGISLATURE OF NEBRASKA, SECOND SESSION:
1. That the Legislature congratulates Mama's Attic - African American
History Center and Doll Museum for celebrating five years and recognizes LaVon
Stennis-Williams for her amazing vision and intentional leadership in
showcasing African American history through a unique and important story-
telling lens.
2. That copies of this resolution be sent to Mama's Attic - African
American History Center and Doll Museum and LaVon Stennis-Williams.
