ONE HUNDRED NINTH LEGISLATURE
SECOND SESSION
LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION 359
Introduced by Clouse, 37; Dorn, 30; Meyer, G., 17.
WHEREAS, Kellie John was a longtime Buffalo County, Nebraska, register of
deeds, dedicated public servant, and local government advocate; and
WHEREAS, Ms. John was employed for more than fifty-two years in Buffalo
County and was in her seventh term as the Register of Deeds; and
WHEREAS, Ms. John was a member and served as the President of the Nebraska
Association of County Clerks, Register of Deeds, and Election Commissioners,
and was also involved in several statewide committees on legislation, retention
schedules, and recording procedures; and
WHEREAS, Ms. John was an advocate of accuracy and consistency in recording
land records and was well-known for mentoring county clerks and registers of
deeds in practices, procedures, and history; and
WHEREAS, Ms. John was instrumental in legislation to develop a system of
filing fees dedicated to county records retention and preservation; and
WHEREAS, Ms. John, as a life-long Buffalo County resident, was a supporter
of community and youth activities; and
WHEREAS, Ms. John passed away on February 21, 2026, and the Legislature
recognizes her many contributions to county government, her achievements, and
legacy of service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE ONE HUNDRED NINTH
LEGISLATURE OF NEBRASKA, SECOND SESSION:
1. That the Legislature expresses and extends its sympathy and condolences
to the family of Kellie John.
2. That a copy of this resolution be sent to the family of Kellie John.
