ONE HUNDRED NINTH LEGISLATURE
SECOND SESSION
LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION 398
Introduced by Conrad, 46.
WHEREAS, the Nebraska Library Commission celebrates one hundred and
twenty-five years of service to the State of Nebraska on March 27, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Nebraska Library Commission was established by an act of the
Legislature on March 27, 1901, as the Nebraska Public Library Commission with
the purpose of encouraging the growth and development of public libraries
throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, since its founding, the Commission has evolved from a small state
agency into a statewide leader in library development, professional training,
and resource sharing; and
WHEREAS, the Commission's responsibilities have expanded to support
public, academic, school, and special libraries across Nebraska, serving as a
central hub for information services, consulting, technology development, and
statewide coordination; and
WHEREAS, for more than a century, the Commission's services and resources
have benefited library staff, state employees, government information seekers,
and Nebraskans with print disabilities; and
WHEREAS, the Nebraska Library Commission has continually adapted to meet
the changing needs of communities by embracing new technologies, strengthening
support for rural libraries, and promoting equitable access to information for
all Nebraskans; and
WHEREAS, the Commission's long-standing commitment to strengthening
libraries and expanding access to information has contributed to lifelong
learning and the educational, cultural, and economic vitality of the State of
Nebraska.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE ONE HUNDRED NINTH

LEGISLATURE OF NEBRASKA, SECOND SESSION:
1. That the Legislature congratulates the Nebraska Library Commission on
celebrating one hundred and twenty-five years of dedicated service to the
community.
2. That a copy of this resolution be sent to the Nebraska Library
Commission.
