LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION 508

WHEREAS, Jake Guentzel played hockey for the University of Nebraska at
Omaha from 2013 to 2016 and went pro his senior year; and
WHEREAS, Jake Guentzel led the University of Nebraska at Omaha to the
National Collegiate Athletic Association's Frozen Four for the first time in
2015; and
WHEREAS, Jake Guentzel was drafted by the National Hockey League's
Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round, 77th overall, in the 2013 National
Hockey League entry draft and currently plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning; and
WHEREAS, Jake Guentzel was selected to compete with Team USA Hockey in the
2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy; and
WHEREAS, Jake Guentzel played in the gold medal game, helping Team USA
Hockey defeat Canada 2 to 1 in overtime; and
WHEREAS, Jake Guentzel is the first former University of Nebraska at Omaha
athlete to win an Olympic gold medal; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature recognizes the athletic achievements of Jake
Guentzel.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE ONE HUNDRED NINTH
LEGISLATURE OF NEBRASKA, SECOND SESSION:
1. That the Legislature congratulates Jake Guentzel for being selected to
Team USA and on helping Team USA Hockey earn the gold medal for the United
States of America.
2. That a copy of this resolution be sent to Jake Guentzel.
