Summary for LSO115 Bill No.: HB0231 Effective : 7/1/2015 LSO No.: 15LSO-0563 Enrolled Act No.: HEA 45 Chapter No.: 98 Prime Sponsor: Baker Catch Title: Hathaway scholarships-exceptions from requirements. Subject: Modifies Hathaway scholarship eligibility for students who receive a high school equivalency certificate. Summary/Major Elements: Prior to this bill, the law prohibited individuals who receive a high school equivalency certificate from receiving the Hathaway scholarship prior to the graduation date of the student’ s high school class, except in instances of a court order or other good cause shown. This bill specifies individuals who receive a high school equivalency certificate and who are emancipated or are a parent or legal guardian of a minor are eligible for award of the Hathaway scholarship prior to the graduation date of the student’ s high school class, so long as the other eligibility requirements are satisfied.
