Catch Title: Longer combination vehicles-compact agreement. Subject: Requests Congress to eliminate the freeze on longer combination vehicles and consent to the creation of a compact agreement between the Western states. Summary/Major Elements: Since 1991, there has been a Federal Highway Administration freeze on state authority to expand the use of longer combination vehicles (LCVs), which are tractor-trailer combinations with two (2) or more trailers that have a gross vehicle weight exceeding 80,000 pounds. LCVs have demonstrated considerable benefits to the general public through increased productivity, higher safety ratings, increased fuel savings, emissions reductions and congestion mitigation. This resolution urges Congress to lif t the freeze on LCVs for affected Western states, including Wyoming.
