Subject: Appropriates funds to projects and remedies for the second year of the 2015-2016 biennial budget. Summary/Major Elements: This bill serves as the supplemental budget request for the School Facilities Commission and appropriates an additional $13,737,442 for the 2015-2016 biennium as follows: $3,150,000 for construction; $4,005,703 for component projects; and $6,581,739 for unanticipated costs. Th e bill authorizes school district projects for funds previously appropriated in the 2014 Budget Session for planning, design, demolition, land acquisition and security as follows: $250,000 for planning; $6,001,594 for design; $500,000 for demolition; $750,000 for land acquisition; and $9,000,000 for security. Th e bill requires the school facilities commission, through the school facilities department , to study component funding and major maintenance to ensure uniformity, equity and proper usage . The school facilities department is required to the report back to the select committee on school facilities on or before September 1, 2015. There is $250,000 appropriated to the school facilities department to perform the study. Comments: Amends a major program : appropriations for school facilities . Requires reporting: School Facilities Department to report to the Select Committee on the use of major maintenance and component funding not later than September 1, 2015. The School Facilities Commission is required to report to the Select Committee and the Joint Appropriations Interim Committee on projects for school safety and security upon completion of a statewide assessment. The Committees are required to report recommendations for expenditure to the Governor.
