Subject: Amends eligibility and sanctions in the POWER program. Summary/Major Elements: The Department of Family Services administers the Personal Opportunity with Employment Responsibilities (POWER) program, which provides time-limited cash assistance to low-income recipients with children if the recipients are in school or compliant with a self-sufficiency employment plan. This act: Increases the income disregard from $200 to $600 per month per recipient; For those recipients failing to comply with a self-sufficiency plan, deletes the sanction of disqualification for supplemental nutrition assistance benefits, while leaving in place the sanction of disqualification from the POWER program.
