Subject: Provides increased Medicaid reimbursement s for nursing homes who partner with government-owned health care entities and who pay into a state fund that is used to obtain matching fu nds from the federal government Summary/Major Elements: This bill requires the Department of Health to seek a state Medicaid plan amendment. The amendment would allow nursing care facilities who transfer ownership to state-owned governmental entities, including memorial hospitals, hospital districts and rural health care districts, to pay into a state fund. Monies in the fund are used to obtain reimbursements from Medicaid. Once rec eived, the reimbursements are combined with the original payments and distributed back to the nursing care facilities who pay into the fund. Distributions are made in an amount necessary to compensate nursing care facilities up to the upper payment limit set by applicable federal law. The Department of Health is required to make application for the state Medicaid plan amendment on or before July 1, 2016.
