Summary for LSO115 Bill No.: HB0097 Effective : Multiple dates, see below LSO No.: 16LSO-0381 Enrolled Act No.: HEA No. 0052 Chapter No.: 112 Prime Sponsor: Winters Catch Title: Wolf depredation compensation. Subject: Wolf depredation compensation program Summary/Major Elements: This act requires the Department of Agriculture (Department) to administer a program to compensate landowners, lessees or their agents for certain livestock damaged by a gray wolf in an area of the state where gray wolves are classified as a predatory animal. Th e act authorizes the Department to employ or contract personnel to assist in administering and investigating claims for damages. Th e act specifies the program will terminate on the date gray wolves are removed from the list of experimental nonessential population, endangered species or threatened species in Wyoming or on June 30, 2018, whichever is earlier. Th e act requires the Department to promulgate rules and regulations necessary for the program. Th e act appropriates $ 60 ,000 to the Department for the purposes of administering the program and funding damage payments. Comments: Requires a report : The Department of Agriculture is required to report to the Joint Agriculture Interim Committee and the Joint Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Interim Committee no later than fifteen days after the termination of the program. Split effective dates : Section 2, requiring rule promulgation, is effective immediately; the remainder of the act is effective July 1, 2016.
