Subject: Creating the W elfare F raud P revention Act Summary/Major Elements: This act requires the Department of Family S ervices conduct an enhanced identity and eligibility verification process prior to awarding public welfare benefit s and specifies the requirements for the processes. The act provides a case review process for issues identified through the verification process and provides for referral of cases for investigation. Comments: The act requires a report to the Governor and the J oin t Labor, Health and Social Services Interim C ommittee on the effectiveness of the verification process and the outcome of any cases referred for investigation.
