The act also prohibits the use of funds appropriated by the legislature or other funds that originated within Wyoming to be used for the unconstitutional federal regulation of firearms. The act provides for a misdemeanor penalty of up to one year in county jail and up to a two thousand dollar ($2,000) fine if the act is knowingly violated. The act clarifies that public officers are permitted to provide assistance to federal authorities for purposes that aren't specifically identified in the act and that governmental entities are allowed to accept federal funds for law enforcement purposes.
