Bill Summary Bill No.: SF0031 Effective : Immediately LSO No.: 18LSO-0151 Enrolled Act No.: SEA No. 0021 Chapter No.: 48 Prime Sponsor: Joint Transportation, Highways & Military Affairs Interim Committee Catch Title: Veterans' skilled nursing center. Subject: Authorizing planning and design for a skilled nursing center for veterans . Summary/Major Elements: This bill authorizes the State Construction Department, with assistance from the Veterans' Commission and the Department of Health , to conduct Level I and Level II planning and design , as prescribed in W.S. 9-5-108 , for a veterans' skilled nursing center. The planning and design must take into account requirements for projected United States Department of Veterans Affairs funding (65% of the project costs) . Th is bill provides a $300,000 appropriation for the Level I and Level II planning and design. This bill requires t he Joint L abor, H ealth and S ocial S ervices I nterim C ommittee and the D epartment of H ealth to conduct a joint study on the availability of personnel to staff a veterans' skilled nursing center, existing available nursing home beds and the demand for a veterans' skilled nursin g center in the state. Comments: Requires reports from the State Construction Department to the Joi nt Appropriations Committee, Joint Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Interim Committee and State Building Commission . Re quires the Joint Labor, Health and Social Services Interim Committee to report to the Joint Transportation, Highways and Mil itary Affairs Interim Committee.
