Subject: State Fair and Fairgrounds. Summary/Major Elements: This act r econstitute s the State Fair Advisory Board as the State Fair Board and amend s its compo sition, compensation, and duties. The act r equire s the State Fair Board to oversee the year-round operation and maintenance of the state fair and the fairgrounds, hire necessary employees, monitor and implement fairground facility needs , and charge fees necessary to maximize revenues. The act r equires the Department of Agriculture to administrativel y support the State Fair Board. The act r emoves restrictions on gambling devices and the sale of intoxicating liquors on the fairgrounds. The act makes conforming amendments and amends the state fair malt beverage permit to authorize the State Fair Board to receive a malt beverage permit for the State Fair. The act also p rovides for the promotion of the St ate Fair by the Wyoming Tourism Board and for assessment of fairground buildings by the State Construction Department upon request of the State Fair Board. Comments: Creates a new board, the State Fair Board. The portion of this act that requires the governor and other entities responsible for appointing members to the State Fair Board is effective immediately in order to allow the members to be appointed before September 1, 2018.
